When a stock trades “sideways,” it means that the stock is trading in a very narrow range over an extended period of time.

To make a profit, you must first buy a stock and then sell it later at a higher price, of course. Traveling with the herd can help you do this, while at the same time lower your risk. But, surprisingly, many investors do not consciously know the primary reason why they buy stocks. You should know one very important—might I say, critically important—aspect of stock market investing. You must know the primary reason to own a stock. Without this knowledge, there is no sense in your buying one more share of stock.
